Needle-free skin renewal
Bio-Spicule Therapy
Sometimes called the ‘no-needle microneedling’ treatment — and that description is fair. Microscopic spicules from freshwater sponges do the work a needle would do, opening thousands of tiny channels so the actives that follow reach the skin that actually needs them. No needle, no numbing, no downtime worth the name. Individual results vary.
- Dull, tired-looking skin
- Uneven tone and pigmentation
- Fine lines and early ageing
- Acne scarring and rough texture
- Congested, breakout-prone skin
- Stretch marks

What it actually is
The spicules are siliceous — silica-based — and come from freshwater sponges. Each one is between 100 and 150 micrometres long, far too small to see, with a fine crystalline structure. Massaged into the skin, they pass through the epidermis and reach as far as the papillary dermis, where they wake up the fibroblasts: the cells that make your collagen and elastin. That is the whole mechanism. No electricity, no needles, no heat.
What the appointment looks like
Your skin is cleansed, then the spicules go on with an activator serum and are massaged in for three to five minutes. A calming mask follows for ten to fifteen minutes, and we finish with hydration and sun protection. You will feel it working — a light prickle is normal and expected, and it means the spicules are where they should be.
- Cleanse, then spicules with activator serum
- Three to five minutes of massage — the prickle is the point
- Ten to fifteen minutes under a calming mask
- Hydration and SPF to finish
The next 48 hours, honestly
Expect mild tingling or a feeling of tightness for up to two days. That settles on its own. Leave your face alone for the first six to eight hours, and give your actives and the sun a miss for three to five days — retinol, acids and strong vitamin C can wait. Calming and hydrating products are your friends in that window. Most people see the difference within about a week, as the skin cycle speeds up.
- Don’t touch your face for 6–8 hours
- No actives (retinol, acids, strong vitamin C) for 3–5 days
- Stay out of direct sun for 3–5 days, SPF daily
- Calming and hydrating products only
Who it isn’t for
This is not the treatment for very sensitive or reactive skin, and it is not appropriate over broken skin or an active infection. If you are unsure, say so when you book — I would far rather move you to a gentler facial than have you sit through something your skin will not thank you for.

Common questions
Is it really needle-free?
Yes. The channels are made by the spicules themselves, which are microscopic. Nothing is injected and nothing pierces the skin the way a needle does — that is why it has picked up the ‘no-needle microneedling’ name.
Does it hurt?
It prickles, and for some people it tingles for a day or two afterwards. It is not painful. If it stings sharply rather than prickling, tell me during the treatment and we stop.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people do a short course rather than a one-off, spaced a couple of weeks apart, then come back for a top-up a few times a year. We agree the rhythm at your first appointment based on your skin, not a fixed package.
Can I have it before an event?
Leave yourself a clear week. The skin looks its best around seven days in, and you want the first 48 hours well behind you before anyone photographs you.
